Marine Corps Recruit Station Annual Field Meet, a/k/a Poolee Night
Becoming a Marine Parent

Back to "Becoming a Marine Parent"

Gunnery Sgt. Phillip H. Collins, a drill instructor at the United States Naval Academy, provides some extra motivation to a poolee from Recruiting Station Baltimore April 9. Drill instructors gave poolees a preview of what awaits them in recruit training with an intense physical training session during the RS's annual field meet.

You can order your "Corps Kit™: Parents & Poolees" for an upcoming Recruiting Station annual field meet (generally held in April and May around the US) at no charge to you from the EGA store by clicking here.

A poolee is an individual who has already signed up to become a Marine but has not yet left for the 13 weeks of recruit training at boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego or Parris Island. Every spring, Marine Corps recruiting stations around the United States hold "Poolee Night" to bring poolees and their parents together to learn what to expect in boot camp and how to prepare for boot camp.

The poolee and parent event is an important phase before the soon-to-be recruit ships off to boot camp. Its just as important for the parents who are often nervous and unsure of what to expect and the next steps along the way. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring in parents of recent graduates and parents whose sons and daughters are currently in boot camp, to lend support and share information with the newest group of recruit parents.

Share Your Knowledge and Experience
We would like to encourage you to contact your son or daughter's recruiter to see if they would like you to share some words about the help and fellowship you've experienced through MarineParents.com outreach programs such as RecruitParents.com, Recruit Chat Night and Marine Family Network. If you're not too keene on speaking in front of others, perhaps you can offer to sit at an exhibit table with brochures and information to help lead the way to MarineParents.com, a source of support in this journey.

Corps Kit Parents and Poolees To help facilitate this sharing of information, we've put together the "Corps Kit: Poolee Party" which includes brochures and information about Marine Parents and our outreach programs that can be used as a display for parents attending poolee night, eager to learn how they too can find a Place to Connect and Share®.

You can order your "Corps Kit™: Parents & Poolees" for an upcoming Recruiting Station annual field meet (generally held in April and May around the US) at no charge to you from the EGA store by clicking here.
