The United States Postal Service has announced an interruption in mail delivery service in the areas affected by the fire. This will include Marine Corps posts in the area. For additional information, please see:

Camp Pendleton Relocations
05:03 October 25, 2007
The Camp Pendelton website is periodicially updated with relocation information for military personnel and their families. Again, a mandatory evacuation has NOT been ordered. Relocation of families from one part of the post to another in some residential areas have been taking place.
PA Office states Pendleton has NOT ordered Evacuation
12:33 October 24, 2007
I just got off the phone with the PA Office at Camp Pendleton. NO post-wide evacuation order has been issued. The evacuations and relocations going on at this time are voluntary and the numbers are not anywhere near the 60k reported by Fox News.
FROM MARINEPARENTS.COM:
We are not a source for official USMC information, however, there are some situations that the Marine Corps does provide information to RecruitParents.com and MarineParents.com. The fires, October 2007 in Southern California is one of those situations. The personnel at MCRD San Diego, Camp Pendleton and Miramar are not in immediate danger. Please see the new sources and emergency links to the right for additional information.
Yes it is scary, and yes, we'll worry; our prayers and concerns need to be for the firemen working the fires, the personnel responsible for evacuations, and the families that are affected by the fires and evacuations. At this time, your recruit, Marine, family and personnel at MCRD San Diego, Camp Pendleton or Miramar are in NO danger.

As Posted on the Message Boards from Captain Voorhees:
10/22/2007 : 09:23:21 Pacific Time

"I am the Commanding Officer of Fox Company, Capt Voorhees. We are still training, but pulling recruits and Drill Instructors with respiratory issues. We will pull the entire company out of the field if air quality continues to deteriorate. There are currently no fires on Camp Pendleton (0915). Thank you for your concern. They will all be just fine. I do not frequent this board and never post, but wanted to address this to alleviate any concerns you have. Your recruits health and well being is our #1 priority in situations like this. I will not be on this board regularly so please do not post questions for me as I will not respond. Use your normal communication lines. Thank you for all of your support and concern."

If and when we receive additional information, MarineParents.com will absolutely publish it here as an update. We'll also seek out reliable news sources and provide those links to you.

As Captain Voorhees requested, please do not post questions on the boards for he or other Marine Corps personnel to respond to. Be certain that your recruit's health and well-being is the Marine Corps top priority.

REGARDING BILLETING FOR GRADUATIONS:
Official Word from MCRD SD Billeting 2:23 p.m. Pacific Time, October 22:
It is possible that the fires will create a situation that military family and personnel may have to be moved to temporary housing. The needs of military personnel will take priority over civilians, including those attending graduations with reservations at billeting. If you have reservations at BILLETING in San Diego, please make a backup plan for a hotel at this time. DO NOT CALL BILLETING to cancel your reservations at THIS TIME but do contact other hotels to make a back up plan if necessary.
